Last week my wife and I made another step forward in our plans to move to Florida. We ventured out to the Daytona area to find a suitable house and jobs if we could. Well as you can see from the picture we found a house! We looked at probably 15 places in 2 days. So we decided on this place in Palm Coast. Close to nothing but the beach. St. Augustine and Daytona are roughly 25 minutes away so it’s not too far from major attractions. It was on Thursday Cicily and I went to St. Augustine to try to find her a full time job. Crazy story…. We went to the first supermarket that came up on GPS looking for a news paper. We walked through the supermarket and found no news paper. So we walked outside to find the paper vendor on the street. Having only a ten dollar bill, I went into the first store closest to the vendor. As I approached the counter, a nice young woman greeted me. I felt a nudge from within to ask if they were hiring. So without asking for change I inquired about available positions to find that they were needing two more employees! The lady told me to apply online. So that night I applied. The next day we met our landlords and put down a deposit on our house. After taking care of business we went to the beach for a relaxing two hours before packing up and hitting the road. As we were passing the exit for St. Augustine Cicily checked my messages on my phone to find that I got an interview for the position for which I applied. So I called back frantically explaining that I was in my board shorts heading back to NC for 3 weeks. She understood and had me come in anyway. I absolutely ACED the interview and got the job. So I have a lot to do and a lot to think about so…. cool!

Getting my ducks in a row

It’s been a long three years of planning, and now in the short four months we have left Cicily and I are getting our crap together for the big move. It’s going to be a drastic change in lifestyle, scenery, climate, and circumstances, but we’re ready! It’s been our plan to pack up and move ourselves to Daytona Beach. The reason being so I can attend a local school there. We’ve worked very hard to pursue our dreams and life goals. And soon we’ll be a giant step into what may be just the beginning. We have done and continue to do the research. We’ve saved and continued to save money. Now It’s all a matter of making these next few months as efficient as possible in working towards this life-changing journey we’ve planned and worked so hard for.

-Happy times

NYC

Cicily and I just got back yesterday from NYC! We flew in to visit Cicily’s father and stepmother. We have only known Marc (her dad) and Harriette (step mom) for about 2.5 years now. We actually found him by his name on a Google search and contacted him through email. Cicily explained her belief that he was her father and ran through the stories that her mom had always told her. To make a long story shorter it was true. Marc and Harriet reacted very nicely. Since then we’ve visited them at their place in upstate NY a few times and they have came down to see us a few times. This time we visited them at their main residence in Manhattan. What a great city! We had dinner with them upon arrival. After dinner we went to their private club and had coffee with some NY cheesecake of course! The next day after breakfast with the kids (Jacob, Oscar, and Emma) he sent us to roam around SoHo. We visited the Apple store on Prince st., among lots of other shops. I also picked up an incredible hot dog from a street vendor. Then Marc called and invited us to see his office. A beautiful building and the interior to match. Nice spacious layout with an awesome view. We were getting hungry so we met the rest of the fam at Lubrano’s pizza. It was Awesome, and supposedly the oldest in America. Then we visited The Met, the Rockerfeller center (70th floor observation deck), and had some more coffee. We parted ways so Cicily and I could go to Times Square before our show began at 8pm. Avenue Q was the name of the musical. It was very funny and well put together. We had some dinner after the show and taxied back to the crib. The next day before our flight, we went to China Town and Little Italy, also we took the subway express to central park to explore. Another adventure on the books. Awesome time!
